A modern take on a well-worn archetype.

I have recently watched the film, The Green Knight, and I thoroughly recommend it to you. A dark and mysterious rendition of the trials of Sir Gawain, and his desire to memorialise himself amongst his fellow knights.

What an innovative and refreshing take The Green Knight was on the well-worn archetype of Good vs Evil. Compared to the latest *insert superhero here*, Sir Gawain is a character we see rarely in mainstream cinema, a man with flaws.

To do this in the realms of Arthurian legend makes it even sweeter, for those stories are partly responsible for spawning the gallant hero persona. So, here’s to the everyman, and to the media that doesn’t follow standard procedure.
